The readings for Holy Cross Day are: Numbers 21:4b-9; Psalm 98 (We sang Joy to the World, Isaac Watts’ version  of Psalm 98); I Corinthians 1:18-24; John 3:13-17.

P.S. Break out the basil! Tradition holds that St Helena, mother of Constantine, found the relic of the True Cross on a hill covered by sweet basil…and it continues to be tradition to eat it on Holy Cross Day today.
